Senior Exemption Assistance Day at the Assessor's Office - 46 Town Center, University Park, Monday, April 20th, 10:00 a.m. through 2:00 p.m. Our first Senior Exemption, Health, & Information Fair on March 12th at Golf Vista's Club House was a huge success! The Assessor's Office Staff assisted over 50 Senior's in their need to apply for exemptions and circuit breakers. Thank you to the 30 Exhibitors for your contribution! Assisted over fifty Seniors in filing for their Senior Tax Freeze Exemption and/or Circuit Breaker. Circuit Breaker & RTA Application Assistance at Thornwood House - One Thornwood Mall, University Park, Community Room, Thursday, February 19th, 10:30 a.m. thru 12:30 p.m. Assisted over fifty-five local residents in filing for Circuit Breaker Programs and RTA Pass applications. Announced via flier postings the Monee Township Assessor's Office is now a Registration Center for the State of Illinois Seniors Can Ride Mass Transit for Free. Out-reach Mobile Home Owners by sending an Mobile Home Affidavit and cover letter to Golf Vista's Office to encourage MHO to take advantage of the 20% personal tax reduction available to them. Out-reach Taxpayer Education Forum mailing sent May 2008 to Monee Township Taxpayers, including taxpayers residing in Crete, Monee, Park Forest, Richton Park, & University Park to communicate Taxpayer Education Forum learn more... Out-reach Home Improvement Exemptions Letters sent to owners on June 26, 2008. This informational letter informs owners of the 2008 assessed value of the improvement exemption placed on their property, with associated permit number and type of improvement performed. Out-reach on December 2008 at Thornwood Living provided on-site application assistance for RTA Passes and provided answers to questions. We assisted approximately 100 senior and/or disabled citizens. Out-reach sent December 2008 approximately 195 letters and farming affidavits to property owners who did not confirm they were farming in 2008. This mailing was to remind them to complete the affidavit to confirm 2008 farming on their land, so they do not lose their farming exemption. Deadline for 2008 confirmation is January 30, 2009 |
